New courses announced for Lifetime Skills Guarantee

On 29 July, the Department for Education announced the addition of several new courses to their approved list for the Lifetime Skills Guarantee, including several related to food manufacturing, and well as in hospitality and catering. Both these areas were excluded from the initial courses approved by DfE when the Lifetime Skills Guarantee courses were published in April this year.

FDF has worked hard over the past several months to bring this oversight to the attention of DfE and push for the inclusion of food-manufacturing related course. As part of this work the FDF created a cross-sector working group who met with DfE officials several times in advance of today’s announcement.

The following two courses are now eligible under the Lifetime Skills Guarantee:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Food Technology
  • Level 3 Diploma in Food Technology and Management
