Despite substantial improvements in machinery safety and the introduction of robust legislation, machinery-related serious accidents continue to occur in the workplace and represent a significant risk to employee health and safety and business operations.
A common cause, and often under-utilised risk reduction opportunity, is the physical isolation of hazardous machine energy (e.g. electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, chemical, gravitational,) to prevent unexpected machine energization or start-up during maintenance or repair tasks.
